If you frequent the parkrun Stats Geek group on facebook, you'll be familiar with Charlie Pearce's most events chart that plots the runs versus events listed on the parkrun website. The chart is grouped in blocks of 50 runs/events and people take great delight moving into a box where they become a discernible point rather than the homologous square. It made me wonder who those dots were, so I decided to build that functionality onto Charlie's original idea. Hovering on a dot will list all those that share the dot and clicking on it will load all of their parkrun athlete pages (although your browser will likely block after the first one and you'll have to allow the site to open more).
This is still a work in progress. Some dots can be obscured by other dots that are closeby. I hope to add some sort of user control for the chart dimensions that may alleviate this. Also, the box totals can obscure points hidden underneath, although hovering the mouse over them will still trigger the tooltip information and is clickable. I have added the ability for the user to be able to turn these off and on.
